WHERE WILL WE GO?
Unlike our other birthday parties, we planned Cydney’s 7th birthday only 2wks prior. If you have read my previous blogs, I am a working mom and this month just happened to be busy-er travels for me. In all honesty, planning a waterpark birthday party was easy-piecy.
1st question, do we want her to have an indoor or outdoor water park adventure? We made a quick decision after calling several indoor waterpark resorts. For some strange reason, the overnight stay cost increases to almost 50% during SPRING! My theory is that parents do not want to take any chance of outdoor water park in case the temperature drops down, like today, unexpectedly – supply and demand.
2nd question, can I rent a pavilion to cater a more “private” location for my guest especially for those who have children under 2yrs of age? This will enable them to bring what they need to change diapers, store coolers for milk and even set up a small tent if it’s too hot for their little ones. This will also allow us to socialize without mingling with the public.
WHAT CAN WE EAT?
After identifying the location, we now have to plan for food. Everyone will be using all their energy swimming, taking photos and walking around that food is an essential part of having a great time. Waterford Oaks Waterpark is pretty awesome at this. Not only do they serve food for purchase within the park, they also provide a decent-size grill when you rent a pavilion. You can bring your own marinated meats, charcoal and grill to your liking – SCORE! Also, my family was very generous to do a pot luck. Some will bring fruit trays, Texas Sheet Cake, snacks and drinks. I also plan to bring all disposable utensils to ensure ease of clean up 🙂 .
WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR?
One of perks of having a party at a venue is not having to decorate extravagantly. But if you’re like me, and love throwing themed events, you can personalize your party by bringing specific-colored balloons (Except for water balloons), your own decorated cake and minimal paper decorations.
Your waterpark may or may not provide towels, another fun idea is providing towels for your guest – so do remember to check on that. If you’re going on a smaller budget like me, remind your guest to bring their own and you can bring plastic bags for their wet towels and bathing suits.
