LEARNING TAGALOG

When my children were born, I only had 3 requirements for hiring a nanny:

  1. She must be God fearing, very kind and must have self motivation.
  2. She must know CPR, for emergency purposes
  3. AND She must know how to speak in Tagalog

I was born and raised in the Philippines.  Which means that I, up until now, value the cultures and traditions of Filipinos.  I moved to the United States when I was 14 and attended college at 15yrs of age.  The reason I had to mention that is because I wanted to emphasize that when I get in trouble during those years (And until now), my mother switches naturally in Tagalog to either yell at me or make me feel guilty – Yes, I do the same thing with my children too.

It was very important for me that my children know basic words to be able to communicate to fellow Filipinos within our community.  I wanted them to know where mommy came from.  I also wanted them to value the diversity in my family.  This is no joke, my family has so many different races which teaches each one of us skills from patience, respect, good judgement and most importantly LOVE.

We will be posting videos of basic Tagalog words that you can use to teach your babies too!  I hope that you find it helpful or at least entertaining 🙂
